- More than just a question

There's a lot to consider when starting a website. You likely have plenty of questions and we will work together with you to answer all that we can. Here are some of the more common initial questions we hear.

So how much does it cost?

This is almost always the first question clients have. There are many factors to consider before an estimate can be given. We have tools available (like our Estimate Request Form) to help you decide the basics of what you would like to see. Using these tools we then build and shape a proposal that will match to your needs and budget.

Here's average starting points for some of the common website design types.

Elegant/Traditional
Usually include a html/css design with header, body, navigation, footer
Common pages include Home, About, Contact, Services
Small-Medium Businesses & Groups/Organizations are great fits for this style
Easily expandable as you grow to add features and interactivity
$400-1500+ is a general range depending on your needs

Column/Informational
Column sites are are a great way to provide additional content
in the same viewing area. Uses the same principles as a Traditional
and allows for greater flexibility in content and navigation
Small-Large Businesses, Broad Range of Services/Topics fit well for this style
$1000-2000+ is a general starting range

Multi-Media - Interactive
These sites are usually very visual sites and have many varieties
They may include the traditional pages combined with multi-media
Such as music, video, and interactive features
Content generation plays a large factor in cost for this category
$1500-2500+ is a general starting point

Trailblazer
These sites are usually completely custom and rarely follow
Traditional boundaries and navigation. They may include multi-media,
partial or full Flash design, usually graphic and feature heavy
$2000+ is a general starting point

Of course web design allows to mix and match any elements you want to include.
The prices listed above reflect sites focused on that primary style category.
Simply adding a welcome video for example to a Elegant/Traditional design,
does not make it a multi-media categorized site design. This is just to hopefully
help answer the initial concept of what our website designs average

Additional Costs
   - What costs are there beyond the design?

There are several costs beyond the website design itself. Most of these items are covered in the above ranges. Itemized costs will all be laid out and specified before any project is launched. We have no hidden costs but there are some items you should be aware of that may be part of launching and maintaining a site
  Domain Name Registry
  Server/Hosting Fess
  Configuration and Training
  Software Licenses/Updates (in some cases)
  Updates and Edits
  Photography and Digital Editing Services
Graphic Design, Logo Creation (if you do not have these yet)

Ongoing Costs
   - So how much will it cost to maintain?

Not that much. Domain Name and Host fees are paid monthly/yearly respectively. It is usually about $10/yr for your Domain Name and hosting fees can be $10-$40/mo depending on options.
Updates are billed in 1/2 hour increments and depending on the agreement, may be built into monthly maintenance costs up to a pre-set amount. Most general updates cost $10-$57.

Invoicing and billing
   - What are my payment options?

We use online invoicing which you can pay for services in many ways. Cash is not recommended nor is change available. Checks may be accepted if pre-approved. Credit Cards are the easiest method and links are provided with the online invoice for easy processing. During the initial design process the billing is split up into III phases with 1/3 being due at completion of each phase. Updates are billed upon completion. All payments are due Net 10. If you have a maintenance program it will be billed monthly.

Ads and Pop ups
   - Will my site contain them?

We've heard some designers promote that your site should pay for itself using ad revenue. We strongly discourage using this approach with 99% of our clients. A professional, user focused site should have little to no ads. We never program unwanted ads or pop ups and do not use Host servers that add them as a way to save money. We do recommend linking to partner companies or sites and included relevant links or banners as it fits your needs. A well designed site will work as a marketing tool to bring you and your customers together, which is where the real value is created.

Existing Sites
   - Can you work on my existing website?

The short answer is yes! There are some considerations to keep in mind. Does the previous designer have contract in force or copyright to the site? Are all the images and parts of the site's rights released to you or owned by you? Most of the time it is not a problem to work on your existing site. We generally need login/server info to make the relevant changes. We can also move your site completely or redesign if desired.
